Apprentice Parts Technician



Position Summary

The Partsperson is responsible for delivering outstanding customer service and parts knowledge. This includes telephone, email and in-person inquiries and sales. Trouble shooting and problem solving is required to determine product needs for customers. Incumbents are responsible for locating required parts through catalogues or utilizing our in house computer system. Incumbents record all sales appropriately in the computer system (i.e. invoicing, etc.) and must ensure prompt delivery to customers. The Partsperson enhances sales by offering excellent customer service and providing information about add-ons offered by the Gear Centre Group. May require work at the back counter as well. Quality of work directly affects sales and the company’s reputation with customers.


  • Excellent customer service skills, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Previous parts experience or retail sales experience is preferred
  • Partsperson Trade Certification or program enrolment would be considered an asset
  • Mechanical aptitude is beneficial
  • Highly proficient in MS Office with the ability to adapt to other software programs as required
  • Strong problem identification and objection resolution skills
  • Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with customers
  • Ability to perform basic calculations and mathematical figures
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
